Chantry, Sir Francis Legatt
sculptor; b. April 7, 1781 ; d. November 25, 1842.

The sculptor Chantry made the equestrian statue of George IV in Trafalgar Square (London), the statue of the Duke of Wellington in front of the Royal Exchange, and numerous monuments in Westminster Abbey and elsewhere.




Joly, Edmond Jean Baptiste Théodor René
architect; b. April 7, 1824; d. September 25, 1892.

Architect of the Chambre des Députés (Palais Bourbon), Paris. In 1844 he entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts, and in 1865 succeeded his father as architect in charge of the Chambre des Députés. In 1871 he was charged with the installation of the Assemblée Nationale at Bordeaux and later at Versailles.




Lendthall, John
architect ; d. September, 1868.

April 7, 1803, he was appointed clerk of works at the Capitol in Washington, under Benjamin Latrobe. He was killed by the falling of an arch in the staircase hall.
