Jacques Dubroeucq (De Breuck)
sculptor and architect; b. 1500; d. 1584.
Dubroeucq is mentioned by Guicciardini as Natif de Saint Orner, gentilhomme de race, graveur et tailleur expert et sachant bien l'architecture. He was a native of Flanders, visited Italy, and established himself in Antwerp. For Maria of Hungary, Queen Regent of the Netherlands, he built a palace at Binche and several fortresses. The famous Jean Bologne was his pupil.
