Etienne Hippolyte Godde
architect; b. December 26, 1781; d. December 7, 1869.
Godde was a pupil of Lagardette. In 1805 he was made inspector of the public works of the city of Paris. From 1832 to 1848 he had charge of the first section, which included the Hôtel de Ville, the churches, temples, cemeteries, etc. In this capacity he commenced with Lesueur the enlargement of the Hôtel de Ville and between 1838 and 1848 restored the church of S. Germain l'Auxerrois.
