After passing through the Arch of Trajan, the Triumphal Way proceeds along the axis of life. At the tomb of Hadrian, the procession crosses the axis of death, and soon thereafter turns toward the Tiber and the Campo Marzio proper.
The Triumphal Way will weave through the city, making its way to the Triumphal Gate in the Servian Wall.
In the Ichnographia Campus Martius, however, the Triumphal Way will return to the axis of death and the axis of life.
